Here at YM360, we love giving away resources that can encourage and support you. It flows from our desire to equip and serve youth workers. So thanks for the opportunity!
(Special Note: This lesson takes a big-picture view of the purposes behind Jesus’ birth, specifically looking at the Old Covenant vs. the New Covenant. For a more traditional treatment of the Christmas narrative, check out our other FREE Christmas lessons by CLICKING HERE.)
ABOUT THIS FREEBIE:
Lesson Title: The Gift That Changed Everything
Objective: To help students discover that one of the greatest reasons we celebrate the birth of Christ is because of the change that Jesus brought in how people relate to God.
Scripture Focus: Deuteronomy 30:15-18; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 2:1-20
Supporting Scripture: Hebrews 10:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:9
Overview: When teaching students about Christmas, many times we find ourselves taking the actual story of Jesus’ birth and doing one of two things. We either look at Christmas through the eyes of various people in the narrative or we teach a specific truth such as the coming of the Savior or how to properly give and receive. These are perfectly healthy and beneficial ways to approach the narrative. But the approach this lesson will take is a little different. This lesson will take a big-picture look at the purpose of Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection. You’ll help students understand the difference between the Old Covenant way of relating to God through the Law and the sacrificial system, and the freedom and grace that mark the New Covenant.
